Vacant commercial space search begins for pWC in Portland

April 22, 2010

The projectWhiteCanvas (pWC) team is on the hunt for vacant commercial space  in Portland, Oregon to launch its first studio project in June 2010.

Ideal space would be around 2,000+ square feet
Features would include: non-carpet floor, water, power, lighting and access to toilets and the ability to secure the space.

How it would work…

pWC would offer a four month membership for 30+ people depending on the size of the space.  The membership money would go directly to leasing the building for four months.  The first three months the space would be used as an art studio and the last month the members’ exhibit and hold events in the space as the team prepares the next vacant space for a new round of members.

The objective of rotating space is to allow pWC to support the building by bring people into the space and promoting the space during the main stream and social media outreach.  Chemistry is important…we are looking for a building owner/leaser that believes in the value of supporting creativity in our community and understands the benefits of leveraging combined efforts to find a long term tenant for the vacant space.

We will also be reaching out to local business and corporate sponsors to help subsides the cost of the space.  Good news…Rodda recently donated paint to the project.
